Samsung News – August’s Biggest Launches & Updates

Big things are happening in the world of Samsung, from product launches and software enhancements to intriguing partnerships and glimpses of what’s next. In this issue, we round up the most noteworthy developments, offering context and commentary to help you stay ahead of the curve.

Foldables & Wearables Hit the Street

Samsung’s big July launch delivered three headliners: the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Watch 8 family. The devices went on sale across 49 markets starting July 25 2025.

  • Galaxy Z Fold 7: Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Fold yet. It packs a 200MP camera with Generative Edit, AI-powered features like Gemini Live for real-time sharing, SPen support and multitasking tricks.
  • Galaxy Z Flip 7: A compact foldable with an edge-to-edge FlexWindow, portrait studio filters and Galaxy AI enhancements for messaging, search and photography.
  • Galaxy Watch 8 Series: Including Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic and the new Watch Ultra, this lineup adds a BioActive sensor, faster charging and an “Antioxidant Index” that measures carotenoid levels in seconds.

Digital Art Meets Heritage

Samsung is teaming up with British design house Liberty, famous for its fabrics, to bring 20 signature patterns to the Samsung Art Store. This curated collection is sourced from Liberty’s archive and includes whimsical prints like Artemis, Enchanted Wood and Jungle Trip.

This partnership celebrates British design in new ways, with prints spanning from 1930s florals to geometric patterns. It’s Samsung’s first collaboration with a British design institution, turning your Frame TV into a digital gallery and widening access to world-class art.

Knox Enhanced, QuantumSecure WiFi and More

On July 25 2025, Samsung New Zealand revealed a sweeping suite of security upgrades coming with One UI 8, signalling a more profound commitment to on-device privacy and AI readiness:

  • Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP): KEEP introduces isolated, encrypted storage zones for AI-powered apps. Each app stores and processes your data in its own secure vault, and KEEP ties into the Personal Data Engine to keep features like Now Brief and Smart Gallery search fully ondevice.
  • Knox Matrix improvements: Should one of your Galaxy devices become compromised, Knox Matrix now has the authority to automatically sign you out of your Samsung Account on all devices and alert you. A new “security status” dashboard lets you monitor the health of your entire Galaxy ecosystem.
  • Quantum-resistant Secure WiFi: Samsung has upgraded its Secure WiFi with quantum-resistant encryption and multi-relay routing. The service now autoactivates in public hotspots and uses multiple relay nodes to make tracking your browsing virtually impossible.
  • Other protections: Knox Vault isolates passwords and keys; Auto Blocker prevents sideloaded apps from installing malicious code; Advanced Intelligence settings keep AI computation local; and Enhanced Theft Protection requires identity verification before disabling services like Find My Phone.

Together, these improvements provide a strong foundation for personalised AI experiences without sacrificing user security.

Galaxy Watch Ultra Gets One UI 8 Watch

Less than a week later, the Galaxy Watch Ultra received the One UI 8 Watch update. New tools include Running Coach, Bedtime Guidance and High Stress Alert, MultiInfo Tiles and a redesigned Now Bar for quick access to ongoing tasks. It’s a welcome refresh for Samsung’s premium outdoor watch.

A Taste of Handoff? Cross-Device Services in the Works

Reports are swirling that Google is quietly building a “Hand-off”style feature that would let you pick up where you left off across your Android phone, tablet and Chromebook. Android Authority spotted the unannounced option buried in the CrossDevice Services settings, hinting at seamless app, media and notification hand-offs across the entire ecosystem.

Today, Galaxy phones can already share files, keyboards, and earbuds between devices, but this new capability appears to be going further. It’s not live yet, and Google hasn’t announced it, but if it materialises, seamless multitasking could become a reality across Samsung’s phones, tablets and Chromebooks, unifying the Galaxy ecosystem even tighter.

The Tab S11 Timeline Comes into Focus

Samsung executives confirmed during a Q2 earnings call that the Galaxy Tab S11 series will arrive in the second half of 2025, likely in August or September.

Seven Years of Updates: Which Devices Qualify?

Samsung’s update policy now matches Google’s, promising seven years of Android OS and One UI upgrades. Current devices slated for long-term support include:

  • Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra
  • Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, S25 Edge
  • Galaxy S24 FE
  • Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6
  • Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7
  • Galaxy Tab S10+ and Tab S10 Ultra

Older models like the S23 series and Fold 5 are not yet included, but the policy sets a new benchmark for long-term software support in the Android ecosystem.
